Untyped ("the app") is operated by Cronenka. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
You can sign in using Google, Microsoft, or Apple. We collect the email address and name provided by your chosen sign-in method to create and identify your account. If you use Sign in with Apple, you may choose to hide your real email address using Apple's private relay — we only see the address you choose to share. We also collect and store your email address when you separately connect a Gmail or Outlook account for sending. This is used to restore your account and address book after reinstall and manage your subscription status.
When you record, your audio is sent to Deepgram, along with your selected transcription language, so it can be transcribed into text. Recordings are processed in real time, are not stored on our servers, and are discarded immediately after transcription. See Deepgram's Privacy Policy for details.
Once your recording is transcribed, the resulting text — along with your selected tone, language, template, and any recipient name you mention while speaking — is sent to Anthropic's Claude to generate your email or note. No account information, contacts, or email address are included in this request. This content is not stored on our servers. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy for details.
Deepgram and Anthropic (the providers of Claude) both maintain SOC 2 Type II certification and encrypt data in transit and at rest. Untyped accesses Anthropic's Claude through its commercial API, under which your data is not used to train Anthropic's models and is automatically deleted from Anthropic's systems on a short retention schedule. See each provider's own privacy policy, linked above, for full detail on how they handle data.
When you connect your Gmail account, we request permission to send emails on your behalf using the Gmail API (gmail.send scope). We do not store, share, sell, or transmit your email content to any third party. You can revoke access at any time from your Google Account settings.
When you connect your Outlook account, we request permission to send emails on your behalf using the Microsoft Graph Mail.Send scope. We do not store, share, sell, or transmit your email content to any third party. You can revoke access at any time from your Microsoft Account settings. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement for details.
If you save contacts to your in-app address book, those contacts (name and email address) are stored securely on our servers and linked to your account email. This allows your address book to be restored if you reinstall the app. You can delete individual contacts within the app, or request full deletion by contacting us.
With your permission, the app reads your device's Contacts to help match names you say to an email address when addressing a message. This matching happens on your device and device contact data itself is not uploaded to or stored on our servers. However, once you successfully send an email or note to someone, that recipient's name and email address are automatically saved to your in-app address book and synced to our servers, so your address book can be restored if you reinstall the app. You can remove any contact from your address book within the app, or disable Contacts access at any time in your device's system settings.
We use Supabase to store your email address and address book. This is used solely to restore your account after reinstall and manage subscription status. See Supabase's Privacy Policy for details.
The app uses the following third-party services: Deepgram (transcription), Anthropic Claude (email generation), Google Sign-In (authentication), Microsoft Identity Platform (Outlook authentication), Apple Sign-In (iOS authentication), Supabase (data storage), RevenueCat (subscription management), Sentry (crash reporting), PostHog (analytics).
Untyped is rated 18+ on the App Store and 18+ on Google Play. It is not directed at, marketed to, or intended for use by children or by anyone below this age rating. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone below the applicable age rating. If you believe someone under the applicable age has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can delete your account and associated data directly from within the app under Account settings. Alternatively, contact us at untypedapp@gmail.com to exercise these rights or request deletion. We will respond within 30 days.
